FAQ

We're here to make the process as smooth as possible. Below you'll find answers to some of the most common questions about our services, file submissions, timelines, and more. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, feel free to contact us.

  • We primarily work with sign companies, general contractors, architects, and design & marketing agencies that need professional drawings for client approvals and permitting. We also coordinate with engineers and property managers when needed to support compliance and project approvals.

  • We are owned and operated in the United States and we work with sign companies, design professionals, and general contractors across the country. Our digital workflow allows us to support you wherever you are.

  • You are welcome and encouraged to use your own branding. This will help you with the approval process. Our services are designed to support you behind the scenes, so we can deliver drawings using your logo, templates, contact information, and company details. Whether you want the drawings branded with your identity or prefer a neutral presentation, we tailor the final product to match your needs.

  • At SignDraft, project files are delivered in two standard formats designed for clarity and ease of use. During the review and approval stage, clients receive a flattened, raster-based multi-page PDF—ideal for printing, sharing, and permit submittals while preserving visual consistency and protecting the original design files. Once drawings are approved, a final clean vector layout (PDF or Adobe Illustrator file) is provided for fabrication reference. Fabrication reference files are not production-ready files; clients are responsible for coordinating final fabrication and installation through their sign fabricator or contractor.

  • We accept files upload on our website, or you can email us directly. We also support uploads via Google Drive, Dropbox, or other file transfer methods if needed.

  • We design both interior and exterior sign types for a variety of commercial, retail, and architectural environments. This includes wall signs, monument signs, pylon signs, blade signs, wayfinding and directional signage, interior ADA signage, lobby signs, and full-scale branding programs. From single-site projects to multi-location rollouts, we provide permit-ready drawings and presentation visuals tailored to your needs.

  • We specialize in producing professional sign drawings for client approval and permitting. This includes site-specific sign layouts, dimensioned elevations, location plans, and permit submittal drawings. We focus on clarity and compliance—our drawings are designed for approval. Feel free to reference or services page for a more comprehensive list of what we can assist you with on your project.

  • We do not offer engineering or stamped drawings. Our drawings are intended for visual communication and permitting purposes. If structural or electrical engineering is required, these must be obtained separately through a licensed engineer in your state.

  • At SignDraft, we do not provide electrical or wiring drawings. Any electrical layouts shown are for illustrative reference only to indicate general power location or connection intent. All electrical design, load calculations, and wiring must be completed by a licensed electrician or electrical engineer in accordance with local codes and permitting requirements.

  • Our drawings are intended for permit approval and client review. Once approved, we provide a clean vector layout (PDF or Adobe Illustrator file) for fabrication reference. These fabrication reference files are not production-ready; clients are responsible for coordinating final fabrication and installation through their chosen sign fabricator or contractor. Final shop drawings and installation details should always be prepared by the fabricator or installer based on the approved design and site conditions.

  • To begin a project, we typically need your client’s logo or artwork, a photo of the sign location, the site address, desired sign type(s), and basic site dimensions (from a site evaluation or architectural drawings). Any available municipal sign code information and property owner requirements or restrictions are also helpful to ensure compliance before design begins. We’ll provide a simple checklist to guide you through the process—along with space to include any other details you think are important or relevant to the project.

  • Most standard drawings are completed within 1–3 business days. Larger or more complex projects may require additional time—we’ll always provide a timeline before we begin.

  • Yes, expedited turnaround is available for an additional fee depending on project scope and current workload. Let us know your timeline and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

  • Pricing varies based on project scope, complexity, and turnaround time. Contact us for a quick quote—we aim to provide transparent, upfront pricing.

  • Yes. We work with many sign companies on a regular basis and can offer volume-based pricing or retainers for ongoing support.

  • We accept payments online via credit card, Venmo, Apple Pay or ACH. New clients are required to pay upfront. Repeat clients may be eligible for flexible billing arrangements.

  • At SignDraft, we understand that small adjustments are a natural part of the design process. Each project includes up to three rounds of minor revisions at no additional cost. Minor revisions typically include adjustments to dimensions, notes, colors, or layout details that don’t significantly alter the overall design or scope of work. If new signs are added to the project after the initial quote, or if the requested changes substantially expand the scope, those additions will be treated as a separate service or change order and quoted accordingly. Any additional fees for revisions or scope changes will always be communicated and approved in advance before work continues.

  • We design with permitting in mind and follow general code principles, but we do not provide code consulting or jurisdiction-specific engineering. It is your responsibility to ensure final compliance with local regulations and obtain any necessary approvals.

  • We currently provide the detailed drawings and documentation required for the permit process, but you or your client will need to handle the actual submittal to the local municipality. SignDraft does not file permit applications directly but ensures that the drawings are properly formatted and compliant for submittal.

  • We’re happy to assist with revisions. Minor changes are often included; major revisions may require a small additional fee, depending on the scope. However, our goal is to design all the signage per local municipality and property owners’ requirements first to hopefully bypass the need for any major revisions.
